Moshin Vineyards is solely owned and operated by members of the Moshin family. Constant monitoring closely controls quality. From soil to sunshine, we utilize every possible characteristic of the vineyard. Turning grapes into wine is not only a science, but also a tradition.

HistoryOur prized Pinot Noir vineyard was acquired in 1989. In recent years, we have purchased two other vineyards containing Merlot and Pinot Noir vines. Our most recent purchase is the Moshin Family Winery that is now open to the public.

LocationMoshin Vineyards is located at 10295 Westside Road in Healdsburg, California, in bountiful and beautiful Sonoma County along the Russian River. We are part of the established and growing neighborhood of vineyards and wineries on the scenic route of Westside Road. The public will be able to enjoy tasting and picnicking near the redwood trees at the winery, as well as participate in a number of fun and educational events we have planned for the near future.

Process What does it take to grow great grapes? At Moshin Vineyards an exorbitant amount of time and attention is dedicated to cultivating outstanding grapes. The vines are grown on trellises and hand pruned so that the grapes receive the cool morning sun but are shielded from the hot afternoon sun. Not just hard work will suffice; Mother Nature can deliver early rains with potential for mildew and rot, requiring selective picking and detailed hand sorting in order to remove the damaged grape clusters.

Our handpicked grapes are fermented in small lots and carefully pressed so that the skins are removed in time to prevent bitterness. The wine is settled before it is drawn into sixty-gallon French oak barrels. The imported oak imparts a softer, blended flavor to the wine. After aging, the wine is settled, lightly filtered to remove any solids, and bottled. The resultant Moshin Vineyards wines retain distinctive fruit flavors while embodying a unique and always flavorful complexity brought to life by our meticulous process.

Proprietor's SelectRadically different than most American methods of winemaking, the French traditional method relies upon Mother Nature’s ability to create wine. Indigenous yeast living on the skins of the berries is used to ferment the Proprietor’s Select wines. Though riskier, this technique reaps unsurpassing rewards. These wines are richer in color and deliver lingering layers of flavor. Characteristics develop for hours after the bottle is opened, making this wine enjoyable to the last drop. Only the years with a perfect balance of sugar and pH qualify for usage under this French traditional method. Marked “Proprietor’s Select,” these vintages are exceptional.

A tremendous amount of hard work and perseverance contributes to the making of our great wines. We invite you to experience all that Moshin Vineyards and the wine country have to offer and look forward to your visit!
